Mount the tire in the frame and center it by looking down the backbone of the frame. I used
a 250x18 Avon rear tire and mounted it on a 60-spoke 18x8-1/2” wheel from DNA Specialties.
This tire is plenty wide enough and really looks sharp mounted on this wheel.
Set the axle about-centered in the axle slots in the frame. That will give you the room you need to go forward or backward with fender spacing.
Since I couldn’t use a belt with the 250 Avon in this frame, I had to change the transmission over to a chain
drive. A very easy thing to do if you know the right part numbers to get.

Place the tranny on a block of wood so as not to damage
the stud threads then remove the lock plate bolts. Remove
the lock ring.

Then, using a Jim’s transmission nut tool, remove the nut and
then the pulley. Set it aside; you may have a use for it later.

If you are going to use a BDL open belt
primary setup, you will need to remove
the inner primary bearing sleeve on the
transmission main shaft with the special
Jim’s tool. The primary system already
has a sealed bearinginstalled in the
primary plate. If you are going to use a
closed Harley-type oiled primary chain
system, you’ll need to leave this race on
the shaft.

Now remove the pulley spacer and
the seal.
