This type of mount will also allow for fender adjustment later. You can place
a washer or spacer between the bracket and the fender as the chain and
tire wear.
Since there are many pieces that will need to be welded, you may want to just make everything and then
have it all done at once rather than one at a time like I did.

I just did a little at a time, which is what many people will end up doing. I didn’t mind putting it together and taking it apart. It’s quick, easy and gave me a chance to visualize the final product.

Find a piece of cardboard and lay it under the frame and fender.
Mark around the fender and frame with a Sharpie™. You will be
cutting out a piece to fill in the gap between the rear
transmission mount, the frame crossover bar and the rear
fender.

Cut the pattern out, trace it onto the steel and then cut that to fit into the frame as shown.
You will notice the slotted hole in the center of the piece. This is to adjust the fender to tire clearance later
and as the chain wears. Do it now while you can get at it. Later, when the bike is built, it’s a little more
difficult to manage, not to mention you could mess up a nice paint job.

This is where I had planned on putting all of the electrical, but it didn’t turn out that way.

Once our frame is molded and ready for paint, this area looks pretty good.
As I mentioned, you will need to make several pieces for brackets and mounting of miscellaneous items.
The scrap yard pieces of “rem” will work very well for this. Many machine shops and welding shops will
have this material as well so check them out in your area for the best supply and the best deal.
