I used a Baker (#771) 6-speed transmission for this project.
Don’t substitute quality for price. There are more companies
than I can count building transmissions for Harley-Davidson-type
motorcycles, but you simply can’t go wrong when you buy Baker.
Remember, you get what you pay for and this is no exception.
Slide the tranny into place and put a couple of flange nuts on it just to make sure it doesn’t go anywhere while you’re working on it.

I decided to use
the brand new
Paughco round oil
tank (#F748RD) for
this project to give it
a custom look. Install
the (#09808) rubber
iso-mounts from
Gardner-Westcott to the brackets and then
mount both front and rear tank brackets to
the tank.

Slide the tank into
place on the frame
and bolt loosely into
position.

Check for alignment clearance, then adjust as
necessary. In this case I had to twist the left
mount just a little to align the peg to relieve any
stress on the rubber iso-mount.

Nice easy fit with no
stress on the iso-mount.
