2004 H-D FLHTCSE

FLHTCSE Dyno

Last month we testeda box stock 2005 Screamin’ Eagle Electra Glide and reported 90 foot pounds of torque and 78 horsepower. We threw another one on the dyno and it put out 80 horsepower and 88 lbsof torque. A little variation within the family. We didn’t have time to fit up all Harley parts on one of our demos as promised so one of our good customers, Doug Dykes, brought in his 2004 Screamin’ Eagle Electra Glide to let us test. Doug’s bike has a Screamin’ Eagle Air Cleaner, part number 29773-02A for $139.95, a race tuner kit part number 32107-01B for $459.95, Sampson’s True Dual Headers part number 0405-3508 for $599.95, and V & H Mufflers part number V16721 for $469.95. We were going to mount Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle slip ons on our test bike, but mufflers are really a matter of personal choice and the results here are probably very close to those with the Harley-Davidson pipes.

As you can see, the torque number stayed close, about 92 foot pounds, just a little more than our two stock test bikes. But the horsepower jumped up by eleven to 89.3. So for $1,669.80 plus some for labor, the result was 11 more horsepower and the comfort of knowing your bike is tuned perfectly, not too lean or too rich throughout the powerband. Works out to $151.80 per horsepower. Sounds like a lot, but wait until you see how much the next ten cost! Stay tuned, we will work through dozens of combinations in issues to come.
