There
were many changes on the 07 Harleys, most of which have been received
well, but complaints of a whining noise in fifth-gear, especially on dresser
models, have surfaced. Bert Baker of Baker Drivetrain in Haslett, Michigan,
has used his transmission expertise to address and eliminate this annoying
issue for 2006 Dynas and all big-block 2007 H-D models. Quiet, helical-cut
diamond ground gears (gears are cut at an angle versus H-Ds straight-cut
spur gears) combined with 28% wider bearings, a 1/8 thick hardened
steel bearing retainer plate (H-D uses snap rings), and a billet aluminum
bearing door comprise the F6F kit which also includes new fasteners and
a recalibration kit. The direct bolt-in assembly comes with a 5-year/50,000
mile warranty for $900. Stop your whining and check out at www.bakerdrivetrain.com
or call 877-640-2004.
